Setting Up Battlefield 2142 and Northern Strike on Windows 7, Vista, and probably XP

  1. Download these three files:
    Patch 1.40 (368 MB)
    Patch 1.50 (177 MB)
    Patch 1.51 (1.95 GB)
    WinMD5.exe
    DO NOT USE THE 1.50 PATCH FROM EA DOWNLOAD MANAGER. DOWNLOAD THESE INSTEAD.
  2. Open WinMD5.exe. This program lets you make sure that the other files downloaded without any errors. Drag the patches onto the WinMD5 window and make sure the checksums match the following:
    BF2142_Update_1.40.exe 6145421d020c22ddbd467f2aaa167ad2
    BF2142_Incremental_Update_1.40_-_1.50.exe 11e320e82243e6441e367d89dd516037
    BF2142_Patch_1.51.exe 155a78aa49d779abb87e87eb3eea1d0e
    If they don't match, try downloading them again.
  3. Uninstall Battlefield 2142.
  4. If you use EA Download Manager, open it now. If the buttons say "Play" next to 2142 and Northern Strike, click them each once and the will turn into "Install" buttons.
  5. Install Battlefield 2142 from the download manager or CD.
  6. Install the 1.40 Patch.
  7. Install the 1.40-1.50 Incremental Patch
  8. Install the 1.51 Patch
  9. If you haven't done so already, update Punkbuster by installing the Punkbuster A service as Administrator. Then run PB Setup and choose Battlefield 2142 from the list.
  10. Load up Battlefield 2142. If you hit Alt-Tab the version on the taskbar will be 1.10.107.0.
  11. Knife ShawnOlson in the Grand Park.
